Bushings |
A Bushing is the most basic type of Bearing. It is a Journal surface that is worn only in the Inner Diameter of the Bushing. The shaft will rotate or it will slide in Linear direction through the Bushing. The application will dictate what material the bushing should be made from. Lubrication is a key factor, unlike a Bearing that has compartments to retain the grease for Lubrication, a bushing is a Solid surface. Technology has played a huge role in this area of Lubrication. Oil impregnated bronze is one of the most common type of bushing used where lubrication is required. Rulon is a relatively new product that has some amazing properties. It can used underwater and is self lubricating. It comes in many different housings and in many different shapes. You can make a bushing out of any material, Teflon, nylon, steel, brass. Our machine shop has made many different types of bushing out of many different types of material. We can make 1 to 10,000 or more. TaperLock or QD or Quick Disconnect Bushing are used in a sheave or a pulley to install and remove more easily. |
